What is Palliative Care?

  • BEECIN Supports Health and Hospice, and as a non profit BEECIN supports a Palliative Care program. The heart of the Palliative Program is to provide a quality of life by giving care andsupport to those facing life-limiting illness

  • People may benefit from Palliative care if they are diagnosed with a life-limiting illness while still pursing therapy or treatment. Palliative care is focused on helping to control side effects while working with the patient’s Physician

  • BEECIN assists with funding, while Sanford Home Health and Hospice provides the care for patients on Palliative Care. There is no cost to the patient for these services. The care provided can consist of:

-Support for the patient and family to help lessen their anxieties and normalize their feelings

-Education of caregivers on skills they may need

-Addressing fears and defining quality of life, so that the decisions that need to be made, can be made with peace of mind

-Nursing as well as other disciplines determined by each patient’s need.

Palliative Care can be provided for people that are not eligible for insurance benefits, Medicare Home Health or the Medicare Hospice benefit
